October might be the single best month to visit North Myrtle Beach, and most people outside the Grand Strand have no idea.
The weather in October
Daytime highs sit in the upper 70s and low 80s, evenings cool into the 60s, and the ocean holds onto summer warmth well into the month — usually around 74–78°F in early October. Humidity drops off, the sea breeze is constant, and the sunsets over the Intracoastal get genuinely spectacular.
Pack a light layer for evenings on the porch and you are set.
What is happening in October 2026
- Barefoot Landing stays open with live music, shops and waterfront dining — two miles from our house.
- Fall golf season hits its stride. Tidewater Golf Club is about 16 minutes away and tee times are far easier to get than in spring.
- Cherry Grove Pier is at its best for fall fishing — king and spanish mackerel run through the month.
- Halloween on the Strand — Alligator Adventure, the Alabama Theatre and House of Blues all run seasonal shows at Barefoot Landing.
- Restaurants stop having waits. Hook & Barrel, Crooked Hammock Brewery, Crave Italian Oven & Bar and Nacho Hippo all become walk-in easy.
What to do with an October beach day
Beach mornings still work — the water is swimmable, and Windy Hill Beach access is two blocks from our front door. Afternoons are for golf carts, the Barefoot Landing boardwalk, or a round at Tidewater. Evenings are for the pool, the hot tub and the fire.
