Hocking Hills Weekend Itinerary: Caves, Trails & Breweries Near Our Cabins
By Oak & Oar Retreats · August 26, 2026
Our three cabins — Hill Yea!, Whittle Escape, and the Creola collection — sit minutes from the best of Hocking Hills. Here is the weekend itinerary we share with every guest. (Interactive map with drive times from each cabin: Hill Yea! Adventure Guide.)
Day 1 — The Greatest Hits
- Ash Cave (3 miles / 5 minutes from the cabins) — the largest recess cave in Ohio, with an easy accessible trail and a seasonal waterfall.
- Cedar Falls — the park's biggest waterfall by volume; a moderate half-mile hike.
- Old Man's Cave — the classic. Upper and Lower Falls, Devil's Bathtub, and the gorge trail.
- Dinner at Millstone BBQ or Jack's Steakhouse in Logan.
Day 2 — Adventure & Libations
- Morning: Conkle's Hollow Rim Trail for the best views in the park (sheer cliffs — keep kids close), or saddle up at Spotted Horse Ranch or Hocking Valley Trail Rides.
- On the water: kayak or pontoon rentals on Lake Logan or Lake Hope — guest favorites all summer.
- Afternoon in Logan: Brewery 33, Hocking Hills Moonshine tastings, 58 West, and Hocking Hills Winery.
- Coffee stops: Spotted Owl Coffee or The Old Dutch Restaurant for a classic breakfast.
After Dark
The John Glenn Astronomy Park (about 15 minutes away) offers some of the darkest skies in Ohio — telescope programs run most clear weekends. Then back to the cabin for the hot tub, sauna, or fire pit under the stars.
